Its that time of year again, and it starts on Monday at The Lindum with the first of our Tinsel and Turkey Holidays.

A popular holiday programme for our guests, starting on Monday which is Christmas Eve. Tea, Coffee and Warmed Mince Pies on arrival followed by some fabulous Lindum Cuisine. It's then over to our Diva Donna Reid to get everyone in the festive spirit with some cabaret.

James has worked with many familiar faces in the West End, he composes all his own music and is also working closely with a popular Blackpool entertainment venue assisting them with their new show. He is definitely worth a watch. His rendition of Labi Siffre's Something Inside So Strong is a staff favourite !

Dawn Morris 50th Birthday Celebrations

An enjoyable night by all on 24th October as Friends and Family arrived to help Dawn celebrate her 50th Birthday Party.

The Guests were called into the main function room at 8pm which had been dressed with fabulous balloon displays, along with ambient lighting provided by our resident Dj Rob Harris, and not to forget a fabulous cake.

Once everyone had settled Rob rownded everyone up to applaud to chefs as they presented the nights feast of a mouth watering Hog Roast.

Once the photo opportunity had finished, everyone tooked in, filling their plates with the hog, savoury stuffing, apple sauce, and of course crispy crackling.

Once everyone had their fill it was over to Rob who kept everyone entertained with music and party game till the early hours.

Barton Hall Reunion @ The Lindum

A Fantastic weekend with great weather for the Barton Hall crowd who stayed at the hotel. Plenty of organised events such as Sandcastle building and a Bring and Buy Sale kept everyone busy. Along with the usual fine food binges in the hotel restaurant.

Barton Hall was an RAF Air Traffic Control base in Preston during the 2nd World War. It served the North of England and was responsible for many lives saved. For more info check out there website (Click Here)

The Barton Hall group have held their reunion at the hotel for many years now, and continue to have nothing but praise for everything over the weekend.

Saturday 18th saw the start of Wedding Season for Rowley's with a Beautiful Marquee Wedding Event In Longridge, for Will & Sally Ingham

The Rawlings Family Home was the scene for the reception with a superb Marquee by CK Marquees of Preston set in the tennis court and the gardens had been given a make over to set the scene for a fabulous welcome reception

160 guests were treat to some of the finest weather of the year so far. The Champagne was flowing, the beer tent was chilled and ready for the ale drinkers ! and the canapes looked fantastic.

The Wedding Breakfast was served. Guests were called to dine, and led to what was a very imaginative table plan to find their place ready to welcome the Bride and Groom.

On the Menu was a Sumptuous Five Course Banquet, Including The Father of the Bride (Jeremy's) Very own Smoked Salmon, and Roasted Breast of Goosnargh Duckling.

This followed by toasts and lashings of Moet & Chandon Champagne which was served in Magnums and Opened by designated people on each table.

After the rather amusing speeches followed the evening entertainment, with a Vocal Impressionist of Kylie Minogue, Sallys Favorite. And Friend of the Family Band which kept all the guests dancing till the early hours of the morning.

And for the still hungry there was plenty of food to go around with an impressive selection of Cheeses, Warm Breads, Pies and Eccles Cakes.

Concord Lodge Weekend @ The Lindum

Many Thanks To Gerry Russell for the pictures and thanks to all from Concord Lodge for the kind comments we received from your weekend with us.

This year was the 21st year the lodge has come to the hotel. And this year the 61 guests were treat to a St Georges Day Extravaganza. The Dining Room was decked out with the appropriate Red and White Theme. And the resident DJ Rob Harris had everyone up singing all the patriotic songs.

After a Delicious 5 course meal. It was time to hand over to Rob, who had everyone up quickly onto the dance floor.

The Night Was Rounded Off with Midnight Tea & Coffee and Mouth watering Bacon Butties

To follow, Our Chef D'Partie Andrew Taylor has cooked up a piping hot Mediterranean Vegetable and Roasted Tomato Soup, Served with a Stuffed Tomato and Pesto Cream

For Main Course our Head Chef Steve Spafford has devised a Breast of Chicken, Stuffed with a Chanterelle Mushroom Pate Wrapped in Parma Ham and Served on a Pool of Chardonnay and Wild Mushroom Sauce

Abbey & Cloisters Lodge Weekend

Another fantastic weekend in Lytham St Annes, and this weekend it was for the lucky Abbey & Cloisters Lodge. Organised By Keith Turner (seen below on the left).

Guests were treat to an evening of entertainment from The Talented Keyboard Player and Vocalist Mr Vince Burn's from Limelight Artiste Productions

Vince had everyone up dancing throughout the evening

Vince was also joined by the wonderful Mr James Reay. James (seen below) can be seen throughout the season at the Hotel every Thursday night. James who owns his own recording studio, records all his own backing tracks, which gives a unique twist to the style of music he sings. I'm sure some of our regulars have been amused many times by his Scottish rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber. On top of his busy schedule, James has is own claim to fame, by being one of the vocal coaches of the now very popular Jodie Prenger.

The Evening was rounded off by Crispy Bacon Sandwiches. What could be better !

Now the weather is improving, and the days are getting longer, people are finding more time to relax and unwind with their favorite pass time on the golf course.

St Annes has some fantastic golf courses, all of which have been enjoyed by many of our guests. The most well known being Royal Lytham & St Annes, it is one of the premier link courses, and has played host to several Open and Ryder Cup Tournaments.

St Annes Old Links, was founded in 1901 and has barely changed since then. Each of its holes has its own characteristic, with multiple bunkers which makes for a more challenging play.

Lytham Green Drive, has a large expanse of flat park land, however do not take this as an easy course, it is actually more challenging and interesting than you think.

Fairhaven Golf Club - Founded in 1895, Fairhaven Golf Club has been listed in Golf World as one of the 10 best Open Championship Qualifying Courses.

Our Group Booking Manager Patricia Moston, a budding golfer herself has fantastic knowledge of all the courses, and with her experience can tailor make a package for many group sizes. This was followed by entertainment from "A Touch of Class" Brian and Jackie Hurst have entertained at the hotel for fifteen years now, and after seeing their impressive shows so many times, there was no question about who was going to perform on the evening. "A Touch of Class" perform every Wednesday from the middle of March through till December at the hotel.

The bar was still open till the early hours, and although I was not there for the evening, when I popped in from and Outside Catering event at Lytham Hall at 1am everyone was still up celebrating.

Round Britain Day 3 - Ireland

Another fantastic day on our round Britain tour as we celebrated Ireland in style. Lots of the guests made the effort to dress themselves in Irish attire and headed down to the dining room, for another culinary treat.

Once again everyone had their passports at the ready, hoping luck was on their side to win the fantastic raffle prize. Tonight, there was an Irish cream Easter egg, bottle of Guinness and Irish fancy dress up for grabs

Tony G Ford (seen below) was on top form, and had everyone up dancing to the Irish jig with his upbeat sound.

Just a few of our dancers. I must say, anyone needing an Irish entertainer, Tony G is your guy. It's always good to see the guests up dancing and enjoying themselves. It makes all the work worth while

Aye, every wee lad and lassy were kilted to perfection for our Scottish themed day of our Around Britain week. And of course the Staff were not afraid to make a fool of them selves. On the menu were traditional Scottish dishes such as Haggis, Neeps and Tatties. And a Modern twist with an Arbroath Smokey Risotto. Being Shrove Tuesday as well, guests were treat to scotch pancakes with all the toppings.

After the once again wonderful food, it was seats in the lounge for the Diva Vocals of Donna Reid all the well from Motherwell One !

Its England Today. Guests checked in to the Traditional Sounds of our English Heritage, and were given the passport allowing access to the weeks events. The Dining room had been decked out with all the English trimmings and was looking fit for St George himself!

On Saturday 21st February 2009, 32 guests and members of staff from the Lindum Hotel took a Coastal Coach to the heart of City Centre Manchester, The Palace Theatre, for a wonderful afternoon of musical theatre. The well known stories of PL Travers and Disney Film Productions have been adapted by Cameron Mackintosh and has toured the country since 2004. We arrived in good time and had great centre seats in the stalls. Lisa O'Hare played the legendary Mary Poppins and she was "Practically Perfect In Every Way", cleverly convincing us that she was just as worthy to be on the stage as Julie Andrews. Daniel Crossley played Bert, whose singing and dancing was magical - and not an american accent in sight! They were supported by a very talented cast and the production was packed with clever scenery, stage tricks and all the well known songs - and some new ones. No wonder it has won so many awards. We arrived back at the Lindum just in time for their award winning food! An evening dinner of 3 delicous courses and coffee, followed by more entertainment in the lounge. A great day out!!! Looking forward to the next Lindum Theatre Trip - "Thriller" on March 25th.

Halsa (The Holiday Association of Lytham St Annes) were all for their business joining together and promoting each other with the blogging technique. Especially in this time of economic decline, it was deemed that all publicity is good publicity. It is hoped that most of the Halsa members will join the idea and will join together under the brand new Halsa website that is being designed by the very talented Ian Richardson of IWI Design. Ian has already revamped the Lindum Hotel Website and is very close to launching the new Rowley's Catering website as well, something which we are all looking forward to.

And have a large following. They have now been hosting our dancing weekends for the past four years, and they have become a very popular event with their customers and people from further afield

'Place Your Bets' At the Lindum

It was fun as usual on Saturday with what was another busy race day. Guests gathered in the lounge for a champagne reception and to see if luck was on their side. Myself, Patricia and her husband Patrick were inundated with bets for the Scoop 6 which had reached a Jackpot total of over 3 Million pounds. I even had a go myself, however not knowing much about horse racing i fell at the first hurdle and lost.

After all the bets were in, it was time for lunch. The Kitchen team had once again laid on a great hot and cold buffet lunch, with carved meats, thai green curry and accompaniments, new potatoes, various salads and more. And not to forget those amazing home made desserts !

Once everyone had had their fill it was time for racing. The lounge had been decked out with Multiple plasma screens. Nobody was going too miss the action. And at the end of the day, most people had a bit of luck and were able to claim a win.

Full Tummies For All At The Conservative Lunch

A busy afternoon at the hotel today, as we were joined by the Fylde Conservative Association, for their annual get together.

110 people in total sat down for a Delicious four course lunch. Which included, Home Made Chicken & Vegetable Soup with Herbed Croutons, followed with Roast Topside of Beef, with Yorkshire Pudding and Gravy, rounded off with a choice of Sticky Toffee Pudding or Cheese and Biscuits with coffee.

This was followed by a raffle with some very good prizes, (Shame I'm not a member !) which even included a voucher from ourselves for a free lunch. Another chance for a lucky couple to sample our great food.

I well organised and entertaining event which was enjoyed by all. Hats off to Alison and Angela, who have managed the event and did a great job

Mr & Mrs Webster were with us once again this week to celebrate their anniversary, and left us with their beautiful display of roses. Mr Webster has stuck to the same tradition for what is now 56 years of buying Mrs Webster Roses. And he adds 1 more for every year they celebrate. The roses, supplied by the Lovely Jane of Flower Design http://www.flowerdesign.co.uk/ look magnificent, and she has supplied them for the past 8 years, and hopefully for many years more to come.

Mr & Mrs Webster who now live abroad always leave the roses with us for the rest of our guests to enjoy, and for us to tell their story

There are not many businesses who can claim that they are working partners with one of their area's most Attractive and Idyllic Manor Houses and Tourist Attractions. We at the Lindum and Rowley's Catering can though. And once more we can take this opportunity to promote their newly designed website... http://www.lythamhall.co.uk/

The management at the grade 1 listed manor house have done a fine job assisting the web design company with the new site, which gives them a fresh, inviting look. It is easy to use and certainly boosts the grand image that the hall deserves.

It is a pleasure being the caterers and event coordinators and the hall, every client you meet and event you do has you waiting in anticipation as their is always something different, be it the entertainment, the flower arrangements (usually by the lovely Jane of flower design http://www.flowerdesign.co.uk/) and of course the fantastic menus themed by ourselves Rowley's Catering.

It always amazes me the amount of people who you speak to about Lytham Hall, and the reply you get is "Lytham Hall....... Where?"

Well this new site will certainly throw some new light on where and what The Hall is all about.

'Tuffers' Pays A Visit

Yesterday, we welcomed Phil Tufnell who arrived for a 1 night stay whilst working on a project for BBC's The One Show http://www.bbc.co.uk/theoneshow/

The Former England Spin Bowler was in town for a short stay to record a documentary on a new section for the show called Local Hero's. The organisation featured was The Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary http://www.easterleigh.org.uk/index.htm which is a self funded animal rescue centre. Easterleigh relies solely on support from locals and donations to operate and is currently looking after over 100 animals. All their animals no matter how small are looked after until they can be re-homed. None of them are put down, unless a vet has advised to do so. For this great achievement they deserve the recognition.

Phil Tufnell in his cricket career, played 42 test matches and 20 one day internationals for England and over 300 first class matches. Tufnell retired from professional cricket in 2003 and since then has starred on television and radio, including shows like They think its all over, Simply the best and of course The One Show. Phil also appeared in reality television show, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here !

To sum up, Tufnell and his film crew all enjoyed their stay at the hotel and luckily had fairly good weather for their filming.

Christmas Starts Early @ The Lindum

This week we saw Christmas start early with The Ever Popular Tinsel & Turkey Weeks. The weekend saw all the staff frantically running around turning round the hotel to give it, its festive new look. and what a job they have done.

Although Minimalistic, The Reception area has a touch of elegance with its fantastic floral displays, and new winter picture boards. The Lighting on the fire surround finishes it well with its warm glow

Hats off to the very creative Louise, who has done a fantastic job decorating the stairs down to the Dining room. Untouched in previous years, they have now been transformed with Holly Wreaths and Classy Golden Bells. Whilst on your left is the Huge Christmas tree with Purple Baubles and Twinkling Lights, It is a Great start to Your Evening Meal.

The Week Starts on Christmas Eve, with a Sherry Reception before going down for a 3 course meal and Coffee. This is followed by Entertainment in the lounge from Blackpools King of Swing, Tim Mills.

On Tuesday see's Christmas Day, with a visit and a present from Santa at Breakfast. In the evening, the guests are treat to a mouthwatering Christmas Day meal with all the trimmings, Followed by Dancing and Entertainment from Tony G Ford

On Boxing Day Wednesday, the guests are given chance to explore the area, before settling down to another beautifully prepared meal before the fun starts with Bingo and Cabaret from 'A Touch of Class' With Jackies Voice and Jokes, and Brians Talented Organ Playing and Dry Whitty Humour, they make a Great Duo, which many come in just to see

Thursday is New Years Eve, The Hotel lay on Fun and Entertainment with 'Tony G Ford' During the afternoon. At night the Guests are treat to a Gala Buffet in our Dining Room, then back upstairs to take a seat to be Entertained by our Very own Scottish Diva, Donna Reid.

Successful Weekend For The Higginson Fellowship

This weekend we accomodated The Gordon Higginson Fellowship Group. All 40 arrived for a weekend of various seminars and discussions, and were all once again very happy.

Saturday Night, Saw a special Toast and reading before Dinner, for Vera Higginson, who sadly passed away earlier in the year. Vera was an enthusiastic and happy member of the group, who everybody knew. From all the staff at the hotel also, we send our thoughts to Vera's family.

"Santa, In October........... You're Too Early" was the expression I feared this afternoon when Santa took to the streets of St.Annes to sell our Christmas Party Nights. Thankfully though this was not the case, the public took our marketing strategy with good humour. And in an hour and a half all of the handouts were gone. And just in time I might say as the heavens opened as we walked back to the hotel. Apart from the odd funny look, people seemed to be very interested in what we had to offer, so fingers crossed. All I can ask for is that the many passing children were not too confused when they saw Santa, two months premature ! Also, many thanks for Daniel Palmer, his help handing out leaflets was greatly appreciated !!!! (There You Got A Mention !)

Goodbye to Matt Leaver

After eight years working with the hotel, Matt Leaver has decided to have a change of scenery and take up a live in position at The Newby Bridge Hotel in the Lakes. Matt has been a great asset to the hotel over the years and has always been popular with the guests. There has been many memorable moments, I will not embarrass him by putting any on here but im sure he would tell you a couple if he was asked !!!!!! Anyway, we all wish Matt the best of luck with his new job and we hope to see him again soon

Potty Dotty Scoops Jackpot

The regular staff outing to the local pub quiz ended in a Riot on Thursday evening with our very own Dorothy Brown Scooping the Play Your Cards Right Jackpot. Dorothy has now lost contact after walking away with the £700.00 prize fund, and we can only assume a last minute holiday to the caribbean has been booked. Time will only tell as to whether The Lindum Hotel will be allowed back to the pub quiz after their recent run of good luck !!
